Myanmar Cyclone Emergency Appeal

We are working together with Muslim Aid Asia to collect funds to buy items that are urgently needed by those affected by Cyclone Nargis.



Muslim Aid is responding to the current crisis in Myanmar (formally known as Burma) after the devastating Cyclone Nargis hit the country this Saturday 4th May. Winds of up to 190 km per hour crashed through the country and leaving thousands of people dead and many more missing. Tens of thousands of homes have been flattened, roads destroyed and power lines ripped down, and aid agencies are reporting that as many as 1 million people may be left without access to food, shelter or water in what is being described as the worst storm to hit Asia in 25 years.

Latest reports estimate the death toll to have risen to over 22,500 with a further 41,000 missing, resulting from a massive storm surge that swept into the vast Irrawaddy delta, southwest of Rangoon. The storm gathered momentum in the Bay of Bengal for several days and resulted in a wave that reached approximately 12 feet (3.5 metres) high, sweeping away low lying villages, leaving villagers with nowhere to find shelter.


According to Reuters sources, the government has called for international assistance as food and clean water supplies are running low. Prices of fuel and construction materials have also risen dramatically in the wake of the storm.

Muslim Aid is appealing for funds to help the thousands of survivors left homeless by the disaster. $200,000 has already been allocated as Muslim Aid prepares its relief work on the ground. We will be working with our partners Global Medic providing clean water, medicine and emergency healthcare.

jumaat lepas aku ke myanmar embassy, utk dapatkan visa utk masuk ke myanmar..
pegi tengahari kul 12.30, patut dapat jawapan kul 4, kul 3 dah dapat tau kena rejek...

barang2 bantuan dah sangkut kat bangkok....

myanmar @ junta nih nak barang je, aid workers xnak plak... Evil or Very Mad

xleh nak bagi pada junta...
depa nih military punya governement...

nanti suma bantuan tu diorang sapu...

US Aid yg datang utk bantu pun, dibenarkan masuk lepas packaging bantuan tu ditukar bantuan dari Junta....

memang keji betul junta nih..

Myanmar embassy lagi arinih... Mad

klau hangpa nak tau, paper minggu lepas kata 2 pegawai mercy dapat masuk ke myanmar....
bila cek ngan majlis keselamatan negara, xdak pun org/ngo/sukarelawan dari malaysia dapat masuk ke myanmar...
haii..media..media...putaq alam sunggoh...

tadi ada jumpa ngan pegawai dari mercy kat myanmar embassy...
dia kata mercy baru dapat 5 visa utk masuk myanmar...

aku xtau bleh dapat atau x visa nih..
esok baru nak follow up ngan embassy...

semalam aku g temple (burma punya) dia org pun tak terima barangan lain, kecuali wang itu pun bagi kat sami buddha di myanmar...kalo barang garenti tk dpt lepas oleh junta (agaknya takut seludup senjata kot)

tu lah pasal...

myanmar dari dulu mmg susah nak masuk..

and suppose, last week, apart from kene pergi Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, aku mmg kene gi Yangon, Myanmar cause as of Q1, aku kene support operations kat sana..

tapi, maybe takdir aku, trip to Yangon is postponed from 1st May to another date..

and it's it my luck or what, the taufan hits Myanmar on 3rd May..syukur aku tak kesana..

and masa aku kat Bangkok last week, mmg manyak giler orang kat airport, cause stuck tak leh nak masuk myanmar...

Myanmar is a Military Country...mmg payah nak masuk..Kerajaan Junta Myanmar mmg sudah nak keluarkan visa...tambahan pula, diorang risau yang sekarnag nie, although taufan dah hits diorang, and banyak bantuan nak masuk, tapi tak bagi masuk, as for me, the reason diorang takut ada spy2 or agent2 yang akan menyeludup masuk ke myanmar and membuat anasir2 yang tak patut..

tu cerita yang aku dengar dari one of the diplomat dari russia yang aku jumpa kat airport aritu....
